The answer to that question is easy for some and harder for others. Discipline and focus are two different things that go hand in hand. You can have the discipline to open your project or begin your studying session but if you don’t have a good focus, you’ll either end up day dreaming or not be able to understand the material you’re studying.
For me, I can easily study for things I enjoy such as socket programming, game development, robotic engineering and so on. However, when it comes to topics that I don’t enjoy, it becomes rather difficult to focus. What I have found out is that the first 15 minutes are always the hardest. Try to not be distracted and be relaxed when studying. When you get into the mode of studying, after about 15 minutes, you no longer end up being zoned out.
This doesn’t always work. I’m still learning the best tactics for studying. What I have learnt about myself is that I only have zone out problems when I’m studying. When I do software engineering or anything applied, I don’t have the problem of zone out at all. I’m gonna try reading a technical book in one sitting this summer (obviously not gonna finish the whole book, just 3-4 chapters). Just to see how well my focus is. I also have stopped using Instagram and platforms like that as it damages my attention span. Wish me luck!
