Hong Kong… or Gotham city?

What has Hong Kong turned into? The recent Wang Fuk Court fire in Tai Po has revealed the city’s darker side, one shaped by corporate corruption and the misuse of the National Security Law. It exposes how power and privilege overshadow accountability and justice every time in Hong Kong recently. A law that any rational person would agree should never have existed in the first place has now become the default for the government to scare the citizens away when they’re hit with allegations.

I remember when Hong Kong was once considered a safe haven, but now the biggest goon seems to be the government itself. A student who started a petition calling for government accountability over the deadly Wang Fuk Court fire in Tai Po was arrested. An ex-district councilor faced the same fate for “inciting hatred” of the government. Not violence, just hatred expressed with mere words.

Are those of you working for the government such big pussies that words and hate scares you so much that you’re willing arrest innocent citizens? The citizens that are angry only because of lack of justice? The innocent citizens that actually love Hong Kong? Maybe it’s not the right job for you to govern us.
