How lucky are some of us that we’ve never battled something as difficult as this? Let’s be honest. Most of our problems in life are solvable. It really sucks to see that some children will never be able to grow up, be in love and follow their dreams.
Meet Levi. You know what’s special about November 15 (today)? He would have turned 14 today, but tragically, he left us when he was just 8 years old due to brain cancer.
I wanna talk about this gentleman briefly in hopes that some of you will consider donating or spreading awareness to those who might donate so that we could have a cure for this specific type of brain cancer. Hopefully children in the future won’t have to suffer like this.
Levi first showed signs of brain cancer when he turned 7. Just two days after Christmas, a biopsy was performed on his brain tumor, revealing that he had diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), an aggressive and incurable form of brain cancer. It’s heartbreaking when his mom, Kathyrn said “He was bedridden with headaches and nausea – he couldn’t even move his head without screaming”. No one should have to go through such challenges. Sadly, because it was incurable, he did not survive.
Towards the end, Levi knew he was dying. He just wanted to make it to Christmas. He’d ask ‘How many more days?’ Levi made it to Christmas, passing away six days later, on New Year’s Eve 2018. Despite the heartbreak, Kathryn and Ben say they have beautiful memories that they will take with them forever. “He’s a part of everything we do and every decision we make,” says Kathryn. “His incredible strength and courage inspire us every day.”
