Will be keeping this brief, as I have an early start tomorrow. Apparently, bookkeeping is compulsory. Kinda considered putting the business on dormant because you know how IRD can be like, but by the time the paperwork is finished, I’ll have to undo the dormant effect.

It does make you think though, being a human involves a lot of work. But in my opinion, it’s far worse to be an animal. We share our cities with them, some as our pets, but consider their actual position. Be real with yourself for once. In our modern cities, how many of those animals could truly survive independently? Their populations and their very existences in our ecosystems are pretty much controlled by us. We act as if the planet is ours alone to manage. In order for an animal to exist and live, it needs human permission. How weird is that? This includes your pet.
The most troubling part is despite how we show our affection to animals, our laws regarding animal cruelty have always been weak. Take Hong Kong for instance. While there is a Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Ordinance, the maximum penalty for offenders is a small fine and a prison sentence of up to three years.
This legal gap between us and animals sends a clear message that despite many people having pets, they do not prioritize their protection, especially in the legal matter. Clearly we don’t care about them as much as we claim.
