Ali's Destiny

Someone talked me into this Catch-22.

Seven years ago, some random dude on Reddit DM’d me, meant as an insult, saying this book (Catch-22 by Joseph Heller) was a dark comedy I would enjoy. But you know, the reviews were good, so I surfed online and found 三聯書店 at Plaza Hollywood had a copy and… I bought it.

I was quite busy at the time so didn’t get to read it. Now finally while re-arranging my bookshelf, I noticed this book. So, maybe now’s the time? Maybe I can finally read the damn thing.

Honestly, I don’t know much about it except it’s about war and bureaucracy, which feels weirdly appropriate because of how the world of politics has been recently. Maybe a dark comedy from the 1960s will remind me that the absurdity isn’t new, we’ve just gotten better at normalizing it. Or maybe I’ll just enjoy the ride, I don’t know. Either way, seven years is long enough.

Time to open the book.
